Kelly & Jeff at Dana Powers Barn

It really isn’t every day or even every year for that matter, that you get to visit not one, but two, stunning wedding venues in the same day. Kelly and Jeff had an amazing wedding that brought together their family and friends for not just one day but a weekend of fun in gorgeous San Luis Obispo. The festivities started the night before at the Flying Caballos Ranch for their rehearsal dinner. Seriously, the perfect spot for any gathering. I’m so smitten over this ranch. The couple also got ready at the ranch before they were bussed over to the Dana Powers Barn for their wedding the next day. While the couple got ready, they kept with tradition and didn’t see each other before hand. They did make use of one of their wedding gifts – a walkie talkie set!  It was so cute watching these two chat over their new tech toys while super excited for their wedding just hours away. The couple was married in the gardens along side the Dana Powers House and after the ceremony they walked their guests over to the barn to officially kick off the cocktail hour and reception. A huge thank you to Wedding Chicks for featuring this amazingly fun and creative wedding!

I can say that I have loved each and every wedding that I have had the pleasure of photographing. I am extremely lucky because I end up with the most amazing couples and I can honestly say that I can’t recall any crazy bridezilla moments. Thank goodness! That being said, while I look forward to all of the weddings I capture, every year there are a few that I pretty much countdown to. Weddings that I know are going to be amazing. There are quite a few different reasons that make these weddings stand out for me. It might be that I just fell in love with the couple during their engagement session, exploring locations, admiring their style, and creating gorgeous photos together. Maybe they mentioned casually that they were opting to throw tradition out the door and do something different like breakfast for dinner. I love couples that aren’t afraid to do something different, something that reflects them. It might just be the venue. A venue that can bring my creatively and joy to a new level. Or maybe the opportunity to work with some talented local vendors, I mean have you seen the crazy gorgeous stuff that the ladies over at Zest it up! create?!? Every once in a while it is all of the above and then some. Stephanie and Aaron held their wedding at the oh-so-perfect Flying Caballos Ranch in San Luis Obispo. This bright yellow farmhouse of happiness was the perfect place for these two love birds to tie the knot. It was charming, relaxed, and stylish, just like them. I knew the day would be a true reflection of Steph and Aaron and I’m pretty sure that is why I was so excited to be there to document it all for them. Please take some time to check out their wedding day slideshow above.

It’s no secret that the San Ysidro Ranch is one of my all time favorite wedding venues, ever! On its own, SYR is pure perfection, but add an ultra stylish bride and groom in the mix and you take things to a level that is pretty much off the charts. You need to stop what you are doing right this moment and check out Nancy and Josh’s spectacular wedding day slideshow above. It will make you swoon with wedding envy.

Danielle & Adam a surprise proposal

San Luis Obispo wedding photographer Jen Rodriguez photographs Danielle CapitoSan Luis Obispo proposal photographer Danielle Adam Poff proposal story

100lc featuredFeeling super grateful to have my photographs of Adam and Danielle’s proposal featured on 100 Layer Cake!

This was my very first proposal, which is an awesome moment to photograph. However, this was a very special proposal. My wonderful friend Danielle was getting engaged. D is not only beautiful but she is soooo talented, thoughtful, outgoing, and stylish beyond words. I am so lucky to call her my friend. D is also a wedding photographer here in San Luis Obispo, we met years ago and just clicked. We are a part of an amazing group of wedding photographer gal pals that get together regularly. We eat, talk, and laugh a lot. If we had jobs in our group of friends Danielle would be the social director. I love her for it. Through the years we have gotten to know Adam and on numerous occasions we have asked about when they were finally going to get engaged. I also let him know, that when the time came, I would be there in a heart beat to capture it for them. Months before the proposal he contacted me to let me know he was getting ready to pop the question and that he would follow up with details down the road. Then came the hard part, keep my mouth shut. Hahaha. I did really well though. I didn’t say a word. Danielle ended up scheduling her yearly family photos  with me. It seemed like the perfect time for Adam to propose since she was getting a tad suspicious, and these photos were her idea. With some gentle suggestions we ended up starting the shoot in SLO and then heading out to Cambria. Once we were inside of the super cute Grow Nursery it was time for Adam to surprise D. She literally jumped up and down she was so excited. They’re getting married later this year at the charming Flying Caballos Ranch in San Luis Obispo and I CANT WAIT to photograph the day for them!

Meagan and Chris are definitely one of the top five sweetest couples I have ever had the pleasure of working for. From the moment I met with them, I just knew they were special. They had this fun energy that just made you smile. It was pretty infectious. Fast forward to their wedding day and that over the top energy and true thoughtfulness was in full force. Meagan and Chris never stopped smiling, laughing, dancing, joking, and just all around being fantastic all day long. I’m pretty sure each and every guest in attendance can attest that this wedding is one they won’t forget.
